Improperly installed Storm doorbells are catching {}

The issue isn't really the Ring device itself—it's the use of improper screws. Specifically, long pointy ones that might reach places they shouldn't and electrically short-circuit things that absolutely should not be short-circuited!

Around 350,000 Ring doorbells offered from the North American markets have been subject to some safety remember  issued yesterday. Especially, poorly installed 2nd-generation Ring doorbells can catch fire, resulting in property damage and possible burn hazards. This is a relatively unusual remember, yet –and one which does not require users to return their own devices.

So long as the gang doorbells were set up together with the screws supplied with the apparatus themselves, they are alright. The problem is that many homeowners substituted their particular screws to those contained in the bundle –and screws can reach areas within the Ring apparatus they should not, resulting in a parasite which may cause fire or overheating.

Ring reports on the US Consumer Product Safety Commission that it has obtained 85 incident reports regarding use of improper connections, together with 23 instances of ignition between minor property damage and eight instances of small personal burns.
