I’ve lost count of the amount of times people have told me they have no idea what to wear recently. And it was only yesterday this conversation led to a friend and I admitting we have no idea how we used to wear a different outfit for work, every day. If you’re rotating the same four/five outfits on repeat at the moment, you’re not alone. With it still being super chilly and spring clothes appearing in the shops, it’s bound to make anyone feel, well, confused.
I’m in the position right now where I’m ready to try out new spring/summer trends, but also happy to stick to capsule wardrobe classics. So with this in mind, I headed to some of my favourite Instagram accounts I always go to when I need to feel excited about getting dressed again. And of course I instantly felt inspired to give my trousers, jumper and ankle boots a day off in favour of new, fresh spring outfit combinations. Here are 10 simple (read: minimal effort needed) outfits that are bound to mix up your daily uniform.
Acid brights are key for spring–add accents of colour to your classic neutrals for a whole new spin.
Don’t pack your knits away as warmer weather approaches, instead, wear them with a mini skirt and bare legs as soon as spring is in the air.
The knit dress should be part of any capsule wardrobe, no matter the season. Abisola styles a pastel iteration with an oversized boxy blazer and I can’t get enough of this look.
Spring means we can ditch some layers, so why not wear a jacket as a top? Keep it minimal like Nisi with wide-leg trousers and dig those platform sandals back out.
You can go for any shirt and jacket/blazer, but Linne’s styling tip of going for matching but clashing prints totally works. Try it out with stripes, spots or checkerboard.
Mary Janes are back with a bang this season, so copy Zeena and style with a puff-sleeve mini dress. So dreamy.
The weather is unpredictable so a coat is never a bad idea. Emmanuelle layers a sharp tailored style over a cool co-ord and no doubt this will be your outfit equation for every upcoming event.
The knit of the season, let your half zip jumper get more air time this year by pairing with a maxi skirt. Because yes, they’re also making a comeback.
Wear your favourite summer dresses already but layering a second-skin high neck top underneath. It’s all about clever fuss-free layers for spring.
