Halle Berry Talks Potential X-Men Return As Storm In The MCU

Halle Berry revealed whether or not she’d want to play Storm in the X-Men again for the MCU.

The rights to X-Men and the Fantastic Four reverted back to Marvel Studios following The Walt Disney Company’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox. Given that in mind, some fans have speculated as to whether or not certain figures like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Halle Berry as Storm would make their return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Kevin Feige has gone on record to say that the X-Men will be implemented into the MCU, but has remained silent as to whether or not cast members from Fox’s films will make their return. If that were to happen, Halle Berry has revealed that she would love to play Storm again. When speaking with Vanity Fair, the Academy Award-winning actress mentioned as such:

“I would absolutely return to it, it’s a beloved character, I loved playing Storm, and people love Storm. So, I would absolutely, you know, if we could find a version that would make sense, or a storyline that would make sense, I would absolutely do that, for sure.”

Halle Berry’s eagerness to return to the role is interesting to hear, especially given that Fox recently tried to bring new versions of Storm and other X-Men members to the screen in both X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. Actress Alexandra Shipp played a younger version of Storm in those films.

While the concrete plans for the X-Men in the MCU remain unknown, it would be interesting to see Halle Berry return as Storm, if Kevin Feige were to allow it. Here is the synopsis for the last Fox X-Men film, Dark Phoenix:

“This is the story of one of the X-Men’s most beloved characters, Jean Grey, as she evolves into the iconic DARK PHOENIX. During a life-threatening rescue mission in space, Jean is hit by a cosmic force that transforms her into one of the most powerful mutants of all. Wrestling with this increasingly unstable power as well as her own personal demons, Jean spirals out of control, tearing the X-Men family apart and threatening to destroy the very fabric of our planet. The film is the most intense and emotional X-Men movie ever made. It is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies, as the family of mutants that we’ve come to know and love must face their most devastating enemy yet — one of their own.”

Written and directed by Simon Kinberg, Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.

Dark Phoenix is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Halle Berry’s potential return as Storm, and the future of the X-Men in the MCU!
