‘Batgirl’ Star Leslie Grace Reveals Batman Won’t Appear In HBO Max Film

Batgirl star Leslie Grace has confirmed that Batman won’t appear in her HBO Max film.

In a bid to keep HBO Max’s popularity up, particularly among comic book fans, Warner Bros. has commissioned a Batgirl film for streaming service. While details on the solo film are slim, it’s known that Warner Bros. has tapped Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah to direct the DC film. In The Heights star Leslie Grace has also been brought in to play the film’s Barbara Gordon.

Rumors have suggested that J. K. Simmons is in talks to reprise his role as Commissioner Gordon for the Batgirl, though it remains to be seen if those conversations are deemed successful. So while Commissioner Gordon himself might appear in the film, it’s clear that his beloved Batman won’t be popping up.

In a recent chat with Entertainment Tonight, Leslie Grace discussed how she was grateful to see Margot Robbie support her casting on social media, and how she would love to work with the Harley Quinn actress. Grace also revealed that her solo HBO Max film won’t feature Batman.

I was freaking out! I’m such a fan. I can’t even. She’s one of the biggest badasses in the superhero world. I haven’t had a chance to meet her, but it would be awesome if at any point Batgirl comes through and Miss Harley Quinn drops by Gotham and have some business to handle, it might be cool!”

“Batman’s out — he’s doing a whole bunch of stuff — so I’m going to need some of my ladies to help me out on this next run, you know what I’m saying?”

Margot Robbie has always been a champion of team-up films in the DC Extended Universe, so it certainly would be exciting to see her Harley Quinn and Leslie Grace’s Batgirl either go toe to toe or team up for an adventure.

In addition to Leslie Grace’s solo film, Savannah Welch is currently playing commissioner Barbara Gordon on HBO Max’s Titans season three. Here is the show’s official synopsis:

“Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find where they belong. In season three, circumstances draw our heroes to Gotham City, where they will reunite with old friends and face new threats.”

Titans stars Brenton Thwaites as Nightwing, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, Minka Kelly as Dove, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, Joshua Orpin as Superboy, Curran Walters as Red Hood, Vincent Kartheiser as Jonathan Crane, Savannah Welch as Barbara Gordon, Damaris Lewis as Blackfire, and Iain Glen as Bruce Wayne.
