‘Aquaman 2’ BTS Photo Reveals Patrick Wilson’s Drastic New Orm Look

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom director James Wan has shared a behind-the-scenes photo of Patrick Wilson’s scruffy new look as Orm.

James Wan is currently hard at work bringing Aquaman 2 to life after the first film smashed critical and commercial expectations in the Winter of 2018. The sequel is set to bring most of the first film’s main players back, including Patrick Wilson, who starred as Orm, the former King of Atlantis. The last time we saw Orm, he was imprisoned by his half-brother Arthur Curry after his crimes against Atlantis came to light.

Patrick Wilson is set to return as Orm for the Aquaman sequel alongside lead stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, and Black Manta actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Seeing as filming on the highly-anticipated sequel has begun, director James Wan has posted a shocking photo of Wilson in his new Orm Look.

Obviously, Patrick Wilson’s new, scruffy look for Orm is a far cry from the first film’s chizzled, clean-cut look. As pointed out by Wan in the caption, Wilson is clearly Tom Hanks’ refuged look from Cast Away. The reference to Cast Away might also indicate that Orm isn’t just merely imprisoned behind traditiona bars but that he’s been exiled someplace remote, left to fend himself, not too disimilar to Napolean after his defeat at Waterloo. Though they appear to be at the beach, there’s very little water behin the director and star, indicating that perhaphs Orm was sent to a desert-like locale where can’t channel his powers.

Here is the synopsis for the first Aquaman film:

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm / Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry.

Aquaman is available on Digital HD, 4K UHD Combo Pack, Blu-ray, and DVD. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit theaters on December 16, 2022.
