‘Watchmen’ Star Regina King Addresses ‘Superman’ Directing Rumors

Watchmen star Regina King revealed that she’s completely unaware of the rumors circulating online that suggest she’s directing the next Superman movie.

Just a few short weeks ago it was revealed that development on a Black Superman movie had begun, with J. J. Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates helming the project for Warner Bros. Shortly afterward, two acclaimed filmmakers were revealed to be in the running for the Superman project: Moonlight‘s Barry Jenkins and One Night In Miami…’s Regina King. King has been one of Hollywood’s most prolific actors, most recently starring in Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen as Sister Night. Having experience as both a superhero and a director makes King one of the finest choices for the Superman project but it turns out that she knows very little about the rumors that suggest Warner Bros. is seeking her out.

In an interview with MSNBC, interviewer Tiffany Cross asked Regina King what she thought about her and Barry Jenkins being at the top of the list to direct a Superman film. Turns out, King had no idea about the rumors.

“Tiffany, that is news to me. You have broke the news to me. A news break, live on MSNBC! Yeah, no, I have not heard that until just now.”

What do you think about Watchmen’s Regina King directing a Superman project? Or would you rather Moonlight‘s Barry Jenkins be at the helm? Comment below and let us know!

Here is the official synopsis for Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen:
