Avengers director Joe Russo compares Marvel Studios’ search for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine successor to casting a new Batman.
Over the years, audiences have gotten used to the idea of new actors taking on iconic superhero roles from Batman to Spider-Man. However, not many actors have played a character for 17 years like Hugh Jackman has with Wolverine. It’s expected that Jackman will remain retired, which means Marvel Studios will have to find a new Wolverine eventually.
Succeeding Hugh Jackman will be a tough act to follow, and Kevin Feige claims they haven’t started the search yet. During an appearance on Lights Camera Barstool, Avengers director Joe Russo likened the hunt for a new Wolverine to finding a new Batman. The Avengers director also shared that he would love to take on a Wolverine story in the future:
“You have to really find the right actor to come in and give a really different take… But I’d love to take a crack at Wolverine”
