Andrew Garfield has shut down the ever-persisting rumor that he’s set to return as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Ah, a tale as old as time: Andrew Garfield denying his rumored appearance in the upcoming Marvel Studios film. For over a year, reports and rumors have taken over the internet, claiming that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be reprising their previous Peter Parkers for Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man: No Way Home. Set to release in under a week, the British star has consistently denied for over a year that he has nothing to do with the Marvel film.
Nevertheless, fans, journalists, and even search engines are adamant about asking Andrew Garfield if he’ll be suiting up as Peter Parker once again. During WIRED’s auto-complete interview, where stars answer questions that are frequently typed into Google, Garfield was asked to answer “is andrew playing spider-man again?”
Andrew Garfield dropped an infectious smile before dropping it, revealing that he has nothing to do with the next Spider-Man film, and jokingly implied that he was exhausted with answering the question.
“Oh, you almost got me. No, no, I’m not. I’m not! Crying out loud – but I’m really excited to see what they’re going to do with the next movie because I just love him.”
Well, there you have it: Andrew Garfield isn’t in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Or, that’s what he says. In addition to rumors, there has been concrete evidence to suggest the trio of Peter Parkers will be sharing the screen together. It’s moot to speculate any further considering the film will hit cinemas in less than a week, meaning will know for certain if Garfield is the greatest liar of all time, or the most truthful actor to walk this Earth.
