Tom Holland pitched ideas for Venom and Kraven the Hunter films with Sony after the split with Marvel Studios.
Back in 2019 sometime after the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home, it was announced that after appearing in five films, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker would no longer be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Sony Pictures would retain exclusive control over the character. This led to outrage from many fans over the split, and for a moment it looked like we would never see the beloved webhead swing in the MCU ever again.
Thankfully, the contract between Sony and Marvel Studios was renewed, much of which is thanks to Tom Holland himself. But there was a moment in time in which he met with Amy Pascal to discuss the future of Spider-Man if he were not to return to the MCU ever again. As it turns out, he had some exciting ideas for films with Venom and Kraven the Hunter, he revealed to Empire Magazine:
“On the day that the announcement happened that I would no longer be in the MCU… I just drove over to Amy Pascal’s house and sat with her by her pool, and we sat there for hours, just chatting, and pitching movies. How would we do a film without Marvel? Does Peter Parker fall through a portal, and then he’s in the Venom world? Or do we do a Kraven the Hunter film? It was a nice distraction… because as a young kid I was so in love with Marvel, and I was so lucky to be a part of it that when they took the rug from under my feet, I was not ready to say goodbye yet.”
Tom Holland certainly has some affinity for the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe beyond just Spider-Man. After all, he took part in three films alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes along with his two standalone adventures. However, seeing that he had discussions with Amy Pascal over potential crossovers with Venom and Kraven the Hunter showed his commitment to Peter Parker whether or not he’d fight alongside the Avengers ever again.

Also, the post-credits sequence for Venom: Let There Be Carnage brought on some intriguing implications for the future of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. We see Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock getting transported into the MCU, seeing none other than Tom Holland’s Peter Parker on the TV. Clearly, there are plans for these two to face off with one another in the future, but whether or not that will be in a third Venom or a fourth Spider-Man remains to be seen. This also hints at more connections with Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunter film as well as Jared Leto’s Morbius.

“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is umasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.”
