‘What If…?’ Live Action Spin-Offs Teased By Marvel’s Kevin Feige

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige teased that What If…? could spin into other mediums besides animation.

2021 marked the year in which Marvel Studios introduced their first canonical TV shows within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Perhaps the most unique series thus far is What If…?, the studio’s first foray into animation. It was previously mentioned that the series has some integral stories beyond the fun concept of the Multiverse showcasing alternate timelines that would be significant to the future of the MCU.

Interestingly enough, during the Marvel Studios: Assembled episode on What If…?, Kevin Feige teased the possibility of the series branching into other mediums besides animation:

“I really believe the deepening fictional mythologies is a way to appreciate them more, is a way to understand them more, look at them in a different way. They’ve got now two seasons of What If…? ideas underway that’s some of the best storytelling we’ve ever had that you may see spin into other mediums. It’s really the most uniquely beautiful animated series I’ve seen in a long time.”

It is no secret that Kevin Feige has some ambitions for where Marvel on both the big and small screens is headed, and now more than ever are we seeing further exploration and ties into both film and TV. With What If…? now with its first season under its belt and a second one on the way, the concept of the Multiverse is only expanding, and to see that portrayed in live action would be a sight to behold.

Here is the synopsis for Marvel Studios’ What If…?:

“Exploring pivotal moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and turning them on their head, leading the audience into uncharted territory.”

The animated series features the voices of Josh Brolin, Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, Chadwick Boseman, Jeffrey Wright, Hayley Atwell, and other major stars from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

All episodes of the first season of What If…? are now available to stream on Disney Plus. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Kevin Feige, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for original video content!
