Look out for an invite.
Around a month ago Square Enix opened sign-ups in some territories for the early access beta of Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, giving eager fans a chance to check out the localised mobile-only prequel. Now invites are starting to roll-out on Android, with one of our team getting a notification to download the app.
We’ve taken an initial look and have started a save, working through the tutorial so far and getting a feel for the mechanics. After the initial install the game wants additional downloads (which work in the background as you play the opening), so if you have limited mobile data perhaps wait until you’re on Wi-Fi. After a small 14.5MB download you then have to choose between 644MB of 868MB for the main download, the latter including Japanese voices.
