‘Extraction 2’: First Still Teases Chris Hemsworth’s Return In Netflix Sequel

The first still from Netflix’s Extraction sequel shows Chris Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake in a picturesque forest.

Netflix’s Extraction emerged as one of the biggest films of 2020 thanks to crisp direction, edge-of-your-seat action, and a unique script that broke down the underworld of Dhaka, Bangladesh. After becoming one of the streaming service’s most viewed films, it’s no surprise that Netflix quickly commissioned a sequel, with Chris Hemsworth set to return as mercenary Tyler Rake.

The first film ended with Tyler Rake seemingly succumbing to his wounds as he drowned after the final battle. Just as we began to memorialize him, an out-of-focus look at Chris Hemsworth’s hero – alive and well – became the film’s final shot, teasing a potential return. Netflix officially confirmed the sequel earlier this year at their fan event Tudum, and even released a brief clip that revealed how Rake survived his various bullet wounds.

With the film currently in production, a brand new still has been released, which shows Chris Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake in a snowy forest. Rake appears to be climbing a platform of some sorts. The stark white look of the still is a far cry from the musty, yellow streets of Dhaka, where the first film took place.

The blurb indicates that Rake is sent on another rescue mission but it remains to be seen if Ovi, the extraction target from the first film, returns.

Here is the official synopsis for Extraction:

Tyler Rake (Hemsworth) is a fearless black market mercenary with nothing left to lose when his skills are solicited to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord. But in the murky underworld of weapons dealers and drug traffickers, an already deadly mission approaches the impossible, forever altering the lives of Rake and the boy.

Directed by Sam Hargrave from a script written by Joe Russo, Extraction stars Chris Hemsworth, David Harbour, and Derek Luke.

Extraction is available to stream on Netflix. Extraction 2 will hit Netflix on April 13, 2023. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding his Hemsworth, Extraction 2 and be sure to check out and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for new video content!
