The final trailer for The Matrix Resurrections is a trippy walk through nostalgia.
After years of anticipation, the fourth film in The Matrix saga is set to unleash itself in cinemas and HBO Max this December. This time, however, things are very, very different. The first look at The Matrix Resurrections left us with more questions than answers and the latest trailer isn’t any different. The final trailer for the sci-fi epic puts the focus on Neo and Trinity’s relationship, as well as the connection between the past and the present. It’s trippy, chaotic, and convoluted – exactly what a Matrix sequel should be.
In addition to a brand new trailer, Fandango has debuted the IMAX poster for the upcoming sequel. Like most IMAX posters, this one is just as striking as the rest. Neo and Trinity are seen together as the code of The Matrix flies around them. Tickets are also now availble for the sequel, though the film will also be avaible to stream on HBO MAX.
It’s clear from the trailer and the poster that Trinity and Neo’s relationship and reunion will be the crux of the sequel. Their love story admittedly doesn’t get enough credit as one of the great cinematic relationships, so it’s great to see it be such an integral part of the return to The Matrix.
Here is the official synopsis for The Matrix Resurrections:
In a world of two realities—everyday life and what lies behind it—Thomas Anderson will have to choose to follow the white rabbit once more. Choice, while an illusion, is still the only way in or out of the Matrix, which is stronger, more secure and more dangerous than ever before.
Directed by Lana Wachowski from a script she co-wrote with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchel, The Matrix Resurrections stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Toby Onwumere, Eréndira Ibarra, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Priyanka Chopra, Andrew Caldwell, and Brian J. Smith.
The Matrix Resurrections is currently set to hit theaters and HBO Max on December 22, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
