Kevin Feige Explains Why Tom Hardy’s Venom Is Joining The MCU

Kevin Feige recently explained how Tom Hardy’s Venom made his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While Marvel Studios’ universe has been going strong for a decade-plus, Sony is just getting started with theirs that began with the hit film, Venom, starring Tom Hardy. It wasn’t long after that fans began to ask for a crossover between Hardy’s Venom and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

During the mid-credits scene for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, it was revealed that Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock is now in the MCU after seeing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man on the TV right after the events of Far From Home. Kevin Feige recently talked to Collider about what went into crossing over Venom with the MCU’s Spider-Man:

“You look at the obvious comic connotations between Venom and Spider-Man and it is inherent. So the minute Sony made their Venom movie and it worked as well as it did, and Tom Hardy became as iconic as he has become as Venom, then the obvious question is then, ‘How do we start to merge them?’”

Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home:

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is umasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Marvel’s latest stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Alfred Molina.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will hit theaters on December 17, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the future of Tom Hardy’s Venom, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
