Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan has met with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige for a potential role.
Jamie Dornan’s biggest role came from starring as billionaire Christain Grey in the live-action Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. Though maligned at the time of their release, the Fifty Shades of Grey films have been insanely profitable and have even achieved cult-like status amongst cinephiles. Since the trilogy wrapped up, Dornan has expanded the roster of roles under his belt, and currently stars in Oscar-front runner Belfast.
In an interview with The New York Times, Dornan made it clear that he wants to be known for more than just Fifty Shades of Grey and how he hopes to have a career trajectory similar to Robert Pattinson. After starring in the critically-panned Twilight saga, Pattinson expanded his prospects by starring in award-winning indie dramas before taking on the role of Bruce Wayne in The Batman.
Speaking with the outlet, Jamie Dornan praised Robert Pattinson’s career choices.
“I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I feel like him and his people have played it really cleverly. Everything he’s done since ‘Twilight’ has been really smart and beautifully crafted, and those films aren’t financed on his name had he not been in these movies that made billions of dollars.”
The outlet continued by revealing that Jamie Dornan has met with Marvel Studios. Though a quote from the star wasn’t in the piece, the author notes that “Dornan is open about the movies he covets, and he has met with the Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige about donning a cape and tights.”
Meeting with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is pretty much a rite of passage for would-be superheroes. It’s unclear which character Jamie Dornan went in for, but the possibilities are endless now that Marvel’s multiverse is opening up. And seeing as Kevin Feige has met with Dornan, it could mean that an announcement could be on its way soon.
Here is the synopsis for Marvel Studios’ next project, Spider-Man: No Way Home:
“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.”
Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Alfred Molina.
