‘Spider-Man’ Star Tom Holland On His Marvel Future, Potential Miles Morales Project

Spider-Man star Tom Holland candidly discussed his future with Marvel and opened up about a potential Miles Morales project.

Tom Holland has been Marvel Studios’ Peter Parker since his debut in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. Since then, the character has appeared in numerous Marvel films, including three solo Spidey projects, with the latest being No Way Home. With his character arc with Tony Stark wrapped up, and a trilogy under his belt, Holland is debating if he has a future with Marvel in the coming years.

In a recent GQ profile, Tom Holland expressed doubts about whether he has a future with Marvel Studios. Holland suggested that it might be best for him to move on from the character and allow the studios to take on a Miles Morales project.

“Maybe it is time for me to move on. Maybe what’s best for Spider-Man is that they do a Miles Morales film. I have to take Peter Parker into account as well, because he is an important part of my life. If I’m playing Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong.”

Tom Holland, who is 25, has branched out of blockbuster fare in recent years and has starred in smaller, “character-focused” films like Cherry and The Devil All The Time. He’s next set to star in Apple’s anthology crime series The Crowded Room, which could be the actor’s first shot at an Emmy.

“I might start shooting The Crowded Room and go, ‘You know what, this is what I’m going to do for the rest of my life.’ Or I might do Spider-Man 4, 5, and 6, finish when I’m 32, and never make another. I’m not sure what I want to do.”

As for what veteran Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal wants?

“I’ve talked to him about doing, like, 100 more. I’m never going to make Spider-Man movies without him. Are you kidding me?”

From both a financial and critical perspective, Tom Holland is the perfect cinematic Spider-Man. Seeing as he’s still relatively young, he could pull off being the character for the next decade. However, it’s clear that Holland already has Peter’s send-off in mind, so it might just be best to have him pass the torch over to a young Miles Morales, who was teased in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home:

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is umasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Alfred Molina.
