Disney Plus is getting a new Marvel animated series titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year.
With Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home set to debut in theaters next month, there are several questions as to what will become of his version of the Marvel character. The actor himself is unsure if he will appear in a crossover with Venom and his descriptions of the upcoming film suggest a depressing ending. Regardless of what becomes of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, a version of the character will live on in a Disney Plus animated series.
Earlier today, it was officially announced that a new Spider-Man animated series is currently in the works for the Disney Plus streaming service. The series, titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year, will focus on Peter Parker on his journey to becoming Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a style that celebrates his early comic book roots. Jeff Trammel will serve as the series head writer. It is currently unknown if Tom Holland will voice the character. Check out the logo for the series below.
Here is the synopsis for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home:
“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is umasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.”
Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, Benedict Cumberbatch and Alfred Molina.
