First ‘Ms. Marvel’ Footage Teases Kamala Khan’s Teen Superhero

First from footage from Marvel Studios’ Ms. Marvel teases Kamala Khan’s superpowers.

Disney Plus Day was jam-packed with first looks and reveals from all across Disney’s various brands. Various new Marvel Studios projects were announced on Twitter, while a sizzle reel on Disney Plus teased the franchises’ projects that are in production. Fans got their first look at shows like Moon Knight and She-Hulk, which are set to debut later next year. Marvel’s 2022 slate wouldn’t be complete without the much-anticipated Ms. Marvel series.

The first footage from Ms. Marvel was brief but it perfectly teased Kamala Khan’s superpowers and state of mind. The footage begins with Kamala Khan admiring a statue of Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel. Then, an unknown friend of Kamala’s asks her about herself, to which Khan responds, “It’s not really the brown girls from Jersey City who save the world who save the world.” Footage of Khan immersing herself in a purple-void-like dimension then fills the screen.

The clip then continues with footage of prayer at a mosque and then Kamala Khan suited up in a Captain Marvel costume. The clip then speeds up, showing four (presumably villainous) hooded figures, and Khan at the top of a building, ready to test out her powers. The footage then cuts to a crowd staring at Kamala Khan as she hovers above them.

While Ms. Marvel was originally set to release this year on Disney Plus, the show has been pushed back to next year. After debuting in her own series, Kamala Khan will join Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau for The Marvels, the direct sequel to Captain Marvel.

Created by editors Sana Amanat and Stephen Wacker, writer G. Willow Wilson, and artists Adrian Alphona and Jamie McKelvie, Kamala Khan made her debut in Captain Marvel #14 before becoming the lead character in a solo comic series. Khan became the company’s first Muslim character to headline her own comic book run and the first issue of the series won the 2015 Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story.

The series is set to debut on Disney Plus in 2022. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan and the future of the MCU on the big screen and small screen, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
