‘Doctor Strange 2’ Reshoots Are Reportedly ‘Significant’

A new report suggests the reshoots for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are “significant.”

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was initially going to be directed by Scott Derrickson, but creative differences found Sam Raimi stepping in with Loki writer Michael Waldron. Principal photography originally wrapped up in the United Kingdom last spring.

Although, the upcoming sequel was recently pushed back from March to May 2022 and Benedict Cumberbatch shared in October that reshoots were on the way.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will undergo six weeks of additional photography and reshoots in Los Angeles. Several reasons for the reshoots were provided such as COVID production slowdowns and actor availability issues.

The next Doctor Strange film is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most ambitious crossovers in a solo film with Scarlet Witch, Loki, Monica Rambeau, and other major characters rumored to appear.

Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home next:

“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is umasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.”

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Alfred Molina.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will hit theaters on December 17, 2021, while Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set for May 6, 2022.
