‘It’ Star Was Tapped To Voice Deviant Kro In Marvel Studios’ ‘Eternals’

A major star from It was brought in to voice the nefarious Deviant Kro in Marvel Studios’ Eternals.

Minor spoilers ahead for Marvel Studios’ Eternals.

As the release of Eternals was ramping up, many were speculating that Dan Stevens would be voicing the Deviant leader Kro. Stevens himself was having fun with the rumor, but it turns out that the Beauty and the Beast star wasn’t involved with the film at all. Talk about committing to the bit. Instead, Marvel Studios roped in It star Bill Skarsgard to voice the Deviant leader Kro.

The Deviants appear throughout Eternals, especially in the present-day storyline. Thought to have been eradicated centuries ago, they emerged from the melting ice, ready to destroy the cosmic team. The leader of the Deviants, Kro, eventually gains the ability to speak after absorbing the powers of fallen Eternals.

Though his appearance in the film is short, Bill Skarsgard does share several key moments where he chastizes the Eternals for their crimes across the centuries. We won’t dabble too far into that, but it’s safe to say that the It star holds his own among heavyweights like Angelina Jolie and Gemma Chan.

Here is the synopsis for Chloe Zhao’s Eternals:

“The story takes place across two time periods. One storyline is set in the past when they operated as a formidable team and a close family unit. The second storyline is in the present, when the group has fractured and split apart, content to live among humans, hiding in plain sight. The prevailing threat of the Deviants, which once again threatens the existence of mankind, means the Eternals need to put their differences aside and regroup.”

Chloe Zhao directed Eternals from a script she co-wrote with Patrick Burleigh, Kaz Firpo, and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena.
