Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot has revealed, in part, why she decided to join Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Snow White as the Evil Queen.
Disney has been massively successful with the live-action remakes of its beloved properties. The remakes of The Lion King, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast, for example, all made over $1B at the worldwide box-office a piece. Now Disney is giving the live-action treatment to the film that started it all.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was actually the first feature-length animated film ever produced and was, at the time, considered to be a huge gamble. The gamble obviously paid off and now animated feature films are a normal part of the film industry. It remains one of the few animated films that Disney has yet to give the live-action treatment to, perhaps due to the Snow White and the Huntsman film that was released in 2012. But now a remake is finally gearing up with Gal Gadot as the film’s main antagonist.
Yesterday a new report revealed that Gal Gadot was set to star in Snow White as The Evil Queen; Snow White’s stepmother who opts to have the girl killed simply so she can say she’s the most attractive woman in her kingdom. While speaking to Variety, Gal Gadot spoke about what drew her to the project but noted that she couldn’t reveal everything at this time:
“Wow! There is so much that I cannot share with you that will actually answer this question. But the take on this story is so different and delightful and full of joy. I’m very, very excited.”
