Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt is set to voice Garfield in a new animated film.
Chris Pratt already has some big franchises attached to his name with Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World. The Avengers star has also done his fair share of voice work as well with The LEGO Movie and Pixar’s Onward.
Recently, Chris Pratt joined an animated Super Mario Bros. film where he will voice the iconic Nintendo character, Mario. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pratt is now stepping into another major animated role as Garfield.
The upcoming animated Garfield project starring Chris Pratt comes from Alcon Entertainment. Mark Dindal will direct the Garfield film from a script written by David Reynolds. On Instagram, Pratt confirmed the news and shared the first look at the animation:
Before Chris Pratt, there was Bill Murray, who notably voiced Garfield in the last film in the franchise, A Tail of Two Kitties:
America’s favorite fat cat is back, and this time, he’s giving England the royal treatment! It’s a British invasion of a different kind when Garfield, along with pals Jon and Odie, travels to London and meets his mirror-image in Prince, an aristocratic kitty who has inherited a fabulous castle. he two trade places, and soon Garfield is living large as only he can! There’s just one problem: the dastardly Lord Dargis wants him out of the picture. A Tail of Two Kitties is twice the laughs and double the fun for the whole family… It’s good to be the king!
Directed by Tim Hill, Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties stars Breckin Meyer, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Billy Connolly, Bill Murray, Tim Curry, and Bob Hoskins.
