Zack Snyder Explains Why Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ Trailer Impressed Him

Zack Snyder explained why the newest trailer for Matt Reeves’ The Batman impressed him.

Recently, the long-awaited second trailer for Matt Reeves’ upcoming DC Comics film The Batman dropped during DC FanDome 2021. The new trailer gave us a further glimpse at the Cloverfield and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes filmmaker’s vision of Gotham City as well as Robert Pattinson’s take on the Caped Crusader. Zack Snyder, director of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League had a glowing response to it, which pleased Matt Reeves.

In a recent interview with Inverse, Zack Snyder was asked about his thoughts on what The Batman trailer revealed, to which he further praised the vision of Matt Reeves and specifically what worked for him:

“I really loved The Batman trailer. I think Matt [Reeves] is doing a great job with it. It’s right up my alley as far as the tone and I just feel so super, super happy. Super good.”

Based on the trailer, it sure looks like Matt Reeves’ The Batman is looking to dive deeper into the darker tones of what has been explored in previous films. The Christopher Nolan films explored dark themes, and Zack Snyder went even further with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, with some of his decisions for Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne polarizing viewers. Regardless of how you feel about his approach, it looks like the Army of the Dead filmmaker vibes with this new iteration.

The plot of Robert Pattinson’s The Batman is being kept under lock and key, but we know the film will follow Robert Pattinson as a younger version of Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his second year as the Dark Knight of Gotham City. The film will also show off the hero using his skills as a detective more than what we’ve seen before in previous versions of the hero. It is also expected to be the first installment in a new trilogy of films with Pattinson.

Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman will hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming Matt Reeves film as well as Zack Snyder’s upcoming projects, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
