I Just Tried On 11 Perfect Blazers From COS, & Other Stories and Arket

I don’t know if you’ve ever been asked about the single luxury you would take to a desert island or perhaps the one food you would eat for the rest of your life if you had to pick one. Well, I’ve often thought about the sartorial answers to both of these questions, and I have concluded that blazers are the one thing I couldn’t live without—fashion-wise anyway. Easily dressed up and down, able to be paired with almost anything in my wardrobe (from dresses to denim and everything in between) and oh so flattering, the blazer really is deserving of its place in the fashion hall of fame.

Over the course of my career, I have really noticed that high-street brands have stepped up their blazer game, particularly the likes of COS, & Other Stories and Arket, who have all made it their aim to perfect the art of a well-made basic. I have one blazer from Arket that I was given for Christmas roughly four years ago, and it honestly looks and feels as good as some of the designer iterations I’ve tried on in the past. I wear it at least once a week, all-year round. Now that stores are opening their doors, I decided to hit my three high-street faves to try on the best blazers they have in stock this autumn. Scroll down to see what I found, from chic oversized silhouettes to classic pinstripes.

This is a classic & Other Stories buy that comes back season after season. The fabric is slightly thicker, so it is perfect as a mid-season autumn cover-up.

You can’t really go wrong with a classic black blazer, especially when it comes courtesy of Arket. Boxy but not too oversized, this will look good for many years to come.

A little baggier fit-wise, this brown COS number is great for a more dramatic finish. I can imagine it looked very cool belted, too.

I love the textured finish on this grey flannel blazer. Style it with white jeans and chunky boots to keep it from looking too corporate.

The store didn’t have my size, but I quite enjoyed the oversized finish on this & Other Stories double-breasted blazer. The houndstooth fabric will also add interest to your winter staples.

Channel a little ’90s style with a leather blazer, and this clean-lined iteration from Arket ticks all the boxes.

If block colours aren’t really your thing, then why not experiment with a subtle pinstriped fabric? I can imagine it looking very chic with slouchy trousers and a white tee.

Arket’s Hopsack Blazer comes in a variety of shades, but I really rate this dusty-blue hue. It’s an easy way to add colour to your autumn capsule.

On the looser end of the spectrum, this three button blazer from COS is perfect for those who enjoy a more relaxed approach to tailoring.

I never would’ve picked up a brown blazer before I tried on this style, which pairs nicely with my white jeans. I imagine it would also look just as good with classic blue denim.

There is a definite vintage feel to this navy blazer with gold buttons and a double-breasted fit. It’s not currently available online, but & Other Stories has a similar style in black.
