‘Black Adam’ Star Dwayne Johnson Playfully Roasts Zachary Levi’s Shazam!

Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson says Zachary Levi’s Shazam! doesn’t stand a chance up against him.

Dwayne Johnson is finally set to star as the antihero Black Adam almost 7 years after he was announced as the character. The first look at the film and character debuted at this weekend’s DC FanDome. Audiences were treated with a brief look at the project’s opening scene, which saw Johnson’s Black Adam absolutely decimating and obliterating his enemies.

After his DC FanDome debut, Dwyane Johnson took to Twitter to point out how powerful the character is and stated how the DC Extended Universe’s hierarchy has officially changed now that Black Adam is involved. Johnson even went as far as to explain how his character could defeat Superman in battle. But what about Shazam!?

When asked by a fan on Twitter what Zachary Levi’s Shazam! could possibly do to take on Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson hilariously roasted his good counterpart.

In the comics, Black Adam and Shazam! are closely associated and are practically considered counterparts to one another. It’s unclear if at this point Zachary Levi’s and Dwayne Johnson’s characters match the same fold, as Black Adam has been tweaked as more of an antihero than a villain. That being said, a crossover between both has to be one in the works, as it’s a billion-dollar idea to see the two titans face off against one another.

In addition to Dwayne Johnson, the film stars Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, and Bodhi Sabongui are also on board in undisclosed roles. Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions are producing the movie with Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. FlynnPictureCo’s Scott Sheldon serves as an executive producer.

Black Adam is set to hit theaters on July 29, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the highly-anticipated Dwayne Johnson film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original content.
