Gwendoline Christie is perhaps most recognized for her role as Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones. She received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2019 for the final season. She is also known for playing Captain Phasma in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy.

Previously, a film adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman had been in Development hell for years. Now, at least two decades later, we are finally seeing the story getting adapted through a Netflix television series. Here’s hoping it lives up to our dreams.

Here is the synopsis for Netflix’s The Sandman:

A rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend are seamlessly interwoven, The Sandman follows the people and places affected by Morpheus, the Dream King, as he mends the cosmic — and human — mistakes he’s made during his vast existence.

The series stars Tom Sturridge, Gwendoline Christie, Vivienne Acheampong, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Jenna Coleman, Joely Richardson, David Thewlis, Stephen Fry, and Patton Oswalt.

Wonder Woman co-writer Allan Heinberg serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer on Sandman. In addition to their duties as writers, Neil Gaiman and David S. Goyer are also on board as executive producers.
