DC Comics Reveals First Full Look At Vigilante In John Cena’s ‘Peacemaker’

DC has revealed the first full look at Freddie Stroma’s Vigilante from John Cena’s upcoming Peacemaker series.

Peacemaker, one of the most memorable characters from The Suicide Squad is set to get his own spin-off series early next year. The series is set to be HBO Max’s first DC Extended Universe television series, marking the first time the DC Extended Universe has expanded beyond the silver screen. The series, set after the events of The Suicide Squad, shows John Cena’s patriotic anti-hero conducting missions for Amanda Waller with a ragtag team helping him out. One such character who is set to aid him on his quest for peace is Vigilante.

One of the most popular characters in the comics, Vigilante made his live-action debut in The CW’s Arrow. Now, he’s set to appear alongside John Cena’s insanely patriotic hero in a comic-accurate suit. With the company’s virtual fan event DC FanDome airing next week, a brand new trailer was released teasing all of the event’s offerings. In the trailer, fans were treated to brand new footage from DC’s Peacemaker, which shows the titular character alongside Vigilante.

Unlike his The Suicide Squad team members, it looks like Peacemaker and John Cena get along just fine as signaled by their friendly gunfight competition and high-fiving. Details on DC’s Peacemaker series are slim and it remains to be seen just how prominent of a role Vigilante has in the eight-episode show.

Here’s the official synopsis for DC’s The Suicide Squad:

Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission, with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them.

Written and directed by James Gunn, DC’s The Suicide Squad stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Peter Capaldi, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Michael Rooker, Pete Davidson, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Flula Borg, Mayling Ng, Tinashe Kajese, Steve Agee, Jennifer Holland, Alice Braga, Juan Diego Botto, Joaquin Cosio, Storm Reid, and Taika Waititi.

The Suicide Squad is currently playing in theaters, while DC’s Peacemaker will hit HBO Max in January. Stay tuned for the latest news Peacemaker and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more content!
