Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Letitia Wright has reportedly been sharing controversial vaccine views on the Marvel set.
Shortly after the COVID-19 vaccines were authorized for eligible members of the general public, Letitia Wright shared controversial views surrounding the jabs on Twitter. After facing backlash for her views, Wright deleted the tweet, stating that her intentions were “not to hurt anyone”, and shortly after deleted terminated her Twitter account. Many were vocal in their hopes to see Wright fired from her role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever but production started with her character reportedly in a key role.
A new report from The Hollywood Reporter recently examined Hollywood’s contentious behavior surrounding the Covid-19 vaccines, as well as the increasing mandates that continue to pop up throughout the industry. Alongside Rob Schneider, Letitia Wright was singled out by the outlet for sharing her stance on the vaccine. The outlet states that Wright “espoused” similar views about the jab on the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in Atlanta. After her controversial tweets, the Black Panther star, who is British, parted ways with her U.S representatives.
Come mid-October, Disney – the studio behind the upcoming Black Panther sequel – will roll out a sticker system on its new productions that will require visible proof of vaccination. Those who are fully vaccinated will have a wristband. Those who are not vaccinated will not have a wristband. This policy does not apply to projects currently in production, like Letitia Wright’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Here is the synopsis for the first Black Panther film:
After the death of his father, the king of Wakanda, young T’Challa returns home to the isolated high-tech African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king – and Black Panther – is tested when he’s drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, he must release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.
