‘The Sandman’: Netflix Reveals First Official Look At Neil Gaiman Adaptation

Netflix revealed the first official look at the upcoming television adaptation of the Neil Gaiman comic book series, The Sandman.

A live-action adaptation of the acclaimed Neil Gaiman comic book series The Sandman had been in development hell for years. A film adaptation was previously in the works, but eventually Netflix completed a deal with Warner Bros. to produce a live-action television series.

During Netflix’s global Tudum event, we finally got our first official glimpse at how the iconic Neil Gaiman story will finally be realized in live-action form. Here, we get a solid introduction into the journey that Morpheus/Dream (Tom Sturridge) will embark on. You can check it out down below:

Fans have been waiting for a live-action adaptation of The Sandman for over 20 years, and thanks to Netflix, we’re finally getting it. Also, with Neil Gaiman’s involvement in the series, it’ll be exciting to see how his beloved characters are brought to life in the television format.

Here is the synopsis for Netflix’s The Sandman:

A rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend are seamlessly interwoven, The Sandman follows the people and places affected by Morpheus, the Dream King, as he mends the cosmic — and human — mistakes he’s made during his vast existence.

The series stars Tom Sturridge, Gwendoline Christie, Vivienne Acheampong, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Jenna Coleman, Joely Richardson, David Thewlis, Stephen Fry, and Patton Oswalt.

Wonder Woman co-writer Allan Heinberg serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer on Sandman. In addition to their duties as writers, Neil Gaiman and David S. Goyer are also on board as executive producers.
