‘The Witcher’: New Still Shows Henry Cavill’s Geralt Hacking & Slashing

A brand new still from the second season of The Witcher shows Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia hacking and slashing.

After a series of delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the second season of The Witcher is finally set to hit Netflix this year. While there’s still a considerable wait to go before we see Henry Cavill return as Geralt of Rivia, we can expect to see more of the hit fantasy series at this weekend’s Tudum, a Netflix-centric fan event.

Ahead of Tudum, Entertainment Weekly has shared a brand new still of Henry Cavill’s Geralt putting his monster-hunting sword to good use.

The still doesn’t reveal much, though Geralt does look pissed off at someone or something. Details for the highly anticipated second season are slimmer than we’d like, though it has been confirmed that the premiere episode will adapt a beloved Witcher short story. We do know that Geralt is under the impression that Yennefer has passed, wich should make for some exciting and tense moments. Netflix is also expanding The Witcher franchise with a spin-off series titled Blood Origin, so it’s likely that the second season will tease the story’s expansion.

Here is the plot synopsis for the second season of Henry Cavill’s The Witcher:

Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

Season 2 of Henry Cavill’s The Witcher will premiere on December 17th on Netflix. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming season and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
