‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’: Topher Grace Debunks Venom Rumors With Insane Response

Topher Grace debunked rumors that suggest he’s appearing as Venom in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Tom Holland’s third solo outing as Spidey is set to feature the return of Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, Jamie Foxx’s Electro, and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin – villains from the previous two Spider-Man franchises. Rumors have also suggested that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be reprising their roles as their respective Peter Parkers. While all signs point to Spider-Man: No Way Home being a live-action take on the Spider-Verse, we won’t know until we’re seated for the film this December.

With the rumor that the previous two Peter Parkers are returning, many have been hopeful to think that Topher Grace’s Venom – who popped up in Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3 – will also appear in the Marvel Studios production. When asked by a fan on a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) if Spider-Man: No Way Home has room for Grace’s Venom, the actor gave a hilariously insane response that should put all rumors to rest.

“Please keep it between us but yes, I am in it. The plot starts with Peter Parker (Tom Holland) bummed that everyone knows his identity and then some crazy shit happens with Dr. Strange and Dr. Octopus (Alfred Molina) comes into his dimension. Then Electro and the Green Goblin hop out of one of those ‘energy circles’ and they’re like “It’s spider stompin time”. Then Tom Hardy and I pop out and battle each other and I win (obvi), it’s like not even a fight I just kick his ass immediately. Not to give too much away but there are also some actors from the original 70s Spiderman show, Aquaman and Batman (Affleck, not Keaton) crossover, and thanks to Disney Han Solo’s ghost from Rise of Skywalker, and that Eve robot from Wall-E. Again, please keep between us.”

It’s unlikely that Ben Affleck’s Batman, Aquaman, Han Solo’s ghost, and Eve will be appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home due to budgetary, legal, and logical reasons. At this point, everyone’s rumored to be appearing in Tom Holland’s third solo outing as Spidey, so it’s great to see Topher Grace taking the Venom rumors in strides. While Grace might not be returning, it has been hinted that Tom Hardy’s Venom will be crossing over with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home:

“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.”

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, J.B. Smoove, Benedict Wong, Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx, Tony Revolori and J.K. Simmons.
