A new still from Marvel’s Eternals puts the focus on Sersi and Ikaris’ relationship.
One of the most unique films coming out of Marvel’s Phase 4 slate is Eternals, a film that tackles the ancient race of immortals protecting humanity from their counterparts, the Deviants. The project is set to showcase the Marvel Cinematic Universe throughout the centuries, with the Eternals watching over humanity. The sprawling saga is directed by Chloe Zhao, who recently won Best Director and Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards, making her the first Oscar-winning director to tackle a Marvel film.
To celebrate the upcoming Fall slate, Fandango has released an exclusive still from Eternals. The image showcases Gemma Chan’s Sersi and Richard Madden’s Ikaris embracing as onlookers from a previous century watch on.
Sersi and Ikaris’ relationship seems to be at the core of Eternals, with their romance expected to be at least 7,000 years old. Talk about a long commitment. Only time will tell if Sersi and Ikaris’ relationship can survive by the end of the Eternals. The film is still set to hit cinemas in early November, no doubt thanks to Shang-Chi’s success at the box office.
Chloé Zhao is directing Eternals from a script written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, and Barry Keoghan as Druig.
