The post-credits sequence for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings could very well be teasing the introduction of a classic Marvel villain.
Spoilers ahead for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings made a big splash this weekend both commercially and critically. Fans just can’t seem to get enough of Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, Marvel Studios’ first Asian-American hero. As expected, many are theorizing what’s next for the characters of Shang-Chi. While Wong will next be seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Abomination will show up in She-Hulk, it’s unclear what’s next for the main roster of Shang-Chi characters.
While we don’t know when the gang will show up next, we might have an indication as to who will be showing up in the sequel. The post-credits scene for Shang-Chi sees Wong and Captain Marvel examining the Ten Rings, which now belong to Simu Liu’s Marvel hero. Both Avengers don’t seem to recognize the origins and materials of the Ten Rings, leading to confusion. Wong does, however, proclaim that the Rings are emitting a bing to an unknown entity, one that could potentially be interdimensional.
If we go through the Shang-Chi archives, it’s easy to realize that Wong is likely teasing Fin Fang Foom, an iconic Marvel villain. Fin Fang Foom is a Makluan, aliens who take the shape of dragons and are responsible for creating the eponymous Ten Rings. While a Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings sequel hasn’t been officially discussed, it’s obvious that Marvel intends to capitalize on their newest hero. When a sequel does come about, it could be interesting to see Fin Fang Foom return to Earth to take possession of the Ten Rings now that they don’t belong to The Mandarin.
