A Marvel producer has revealed that Eternals and Spider-Man: Far From Home take place around the same time.
Up until, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: Far From Home was the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to take place after the Blip, which occurred in Avengers: Endgame. With the snap of his fingers, Tony Stark brought half the population of the universe back to life. While Endgame celebrated the return of all living creatures, it was Spider-Man: Far From Home that showcased the fallout of having so many people return at once.
Now, it turns out that Marvel’s next film, Eternals, will also show the world reeling from the sudden appearance of half the population. In a chat with Empire (via Twitter), producer Nate Moore revealed that Chloe Zhao’s sprawling, cosmic epic takes place “right around the same time as Spider-Man: Far From Home, with the world recovering from the attack of Thanos and the return of half the population.”
The latest trailer Eternals does showcase the crew discussing the events of the Blip, so it wasn’t out of the question to imagine the film taking place around the same time as Spider-Man: Far From Home, though confirmation is always great! It’ll be interesting to see if Eternals directly mentions the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, such as Peter’s identity being leaked, or the supposed death of Mysterio.
Often defending Earth from their monstrous counterparts, the Eternals became embroiled in a civil war amongst themselves over whether or not they should conquer the other races. One faction was led by Kronos and the other by his warlike brother named Uranos, with Kronos’ side ultimately winning the conflict while Uranos and his followers were exiled.
Chloé Zhao is directing Eternals from a script written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, and Barry Keoghan as Druig.
