The Suicide Squad director James Gunn has shared a cheeky Peacemaker poster ahead of DC FanDome.
While The Suicide Squad wasn’t the commercial darling that Warner Bros. had hoped for, the film was a critical success, becoming the DCEU’s most beloved film by both fans and critics in recent memory. Before the film was released, James Gunn began work on a spin-off series focusing on John Cena’s Peacemaker, one of the standout characters from the team-up flick. Set to explore the origins of the crazed patriot, the series will debut on HBO Max next year.
Earlier today DC FanDome – a free virtual fan event for all things DC – announced their lineup, which happens to conclude Peacemaker. It’s entirely likely that the HBO Max series will get its first trailer at the event this October. To celebrate the show’s impending first look at the fan event, James Gunn shared a hilarious Peacemaker poster.
The poster shows Peacemaker giving viewers a peace sign from his beat-up muscle car. The rear windshield boasts a pet eagle, and a license plate that says “PSS MKR”… we’ll let you figure out what that alludes to. The car’s bumper sticker also teases the DC FanDome date: October 16th. And of course, the car sports white and red stripes. All it needs is a splash of blue and a couple of stars, and it would be the perfect patriotic vehicle.
Here is the synopsis for The Suicide Squad:
Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission, with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them.
Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Peter Capaldi, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Michael Rooker, Pete Davidson, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Flula Borg, Mayling Ng, Tinashe Kajese, Steve Agee, Jennifer Holland, Alice Braga, Juan Diego Botto, Joaquin Cosio, Storm Reid and Taika Waititi.
The Suicide Squad is out now in theatres and HBO Max. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the Peacemaker series, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
