‘Doctor Strange And The Multiverse Of Madness’: Rumor Suggests Scarlet Witch Will Battle An X-Men Hero

A new rumor for Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness suggests that Scarlet Witch will be taking on an iconic X-Men hero.

After the season finale of Loki opened up the multiverse in the most chaotic way possible, the next few Marvel films are set to deal with the ramifications. The multiverse opens up literally millions of possibilities and crossovers, which should get fans giddy when they hear who Scarlet Witch might be battling in the Doctor Strange sequel.

A rumor from Viewer Anon, corroborated by scooper Daniel PRK, suggests that Scarlet Witch will be battling X-Men hero Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Former Variety writer Kris Tapley also began to share images on social media, hinting at the X-Men character joining the film. The rumor also suggests that Captain Carter – who most recently made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in What If…? – and Balder The Brave will appear as well, in addition to Mordo and Monica Rambeau.

These characters, including X-Men’s Charles Xavier, will seemingly represent Marvel’s The Illuminati. Should this rumor manifest, it will be interesting to see if Marvel Studios taps Patrick Stewart or James McAvoy to return as the X-Men leader. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but if these rumors are true then it’s pretty much certain that Marvel will be doubling down on the multiverse.

Details on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are currently limited, though it is said to feature horror elements. Furthermore, the Disney Plus miniseries WandaVision also served as the lead-in to the sequel. Scott Derrickson is still attached to the film as an executive producer, with Sam Raimi set to direct from a script written by Michael Waldron. The sequel will star Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, and Xochitl Gomez.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released on March 25th, 2022. Meanwhile, all episodes of Elizabeth Olsen’s WandaVision are available to stream on Disney Plus.
