In addition to announcing the live-action adaptation’s release date, Netflix has officially debuted the first look At John Cho’s Cowboy Bepop character Spike.
The inventive neo-noir anime series Cowboy Bepop has been heralded as one of the greatest pieces of television ever since it debuted in the late 90s. Since then, there have been countless attempts to adapt the acclaimed series for Western audiences but they failed to manifest. That is until Netflix came on the scene in 2017 and commissioned a live-action series, with Christopher Yost of Thor: Ragnarok fame set to scribe the series.
Shortly afterward, the Netflix series cast John Cho as its leader character: Spike, a bounty hunter who fashions himself to be a space cowboy. Mustafa Shakir joins John Cho as Jet Black, an old partner of Spike’s. Daniella Pineda rounds out the main space-faring trio as Faye Valentine, a woman who has spent 54 years in suspended animation as a result of a space shuttle accident.
To announce Cowboy Bepop‘s release date, Netflix debuted the first official look at John Cho’s Spike, as well as the rest of the trio.
The John Cho-led series is set to officially debut on November 19. One can expect a trailer in the coming weeks, likely as soon as the end of this month, as Netflix is known to have a blitzkrieg-like approach when it comes to marketing.
The series focuses on the adventures of a ragtag group of bounty hunters chasing down criminals across the solar system.[4]
