The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke says season three will explore toxic masculinity and more with Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy.
Amazon’s The Boys will continue to expand its world with Soldier Boy coming into play for season three with Jensen Ackles in the role. In the comics, Soldier Boy was the world’s first superhero who emerged during World War II like Captain America.
During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, showrunner Eric Kripke teased what the upcoming season will explore with Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy:
“Season 3 delves a lot more into the history of how we got here through this character of Soldier Boy. We were able to dig into both the history of the country and also really look at toxic masculinity, and masculine roles, and what a shit-show that’s overall caused. This whole fucking, independent Marlboro man thing.”
Here is the official synopsis for the second season of The Boys:
The even more intense, more insane season two finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.
The series stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, and Colby Minifie, and Jensen Ackles.
