Tom Welling’s ‘Smallville’ Finally Getting A Blu-Ray Release

Tom Welling’s iconic Smallville is finally getting a long-awaited Blu-ray release.

Ask anyone in the 2000s what the coolest superhero show was and they’d say Smallville, an intimate and drama-focused take on the Superman origin story starring Tom Welling. The series ended its decade-long run in 2011 to critical acclaim and was released on DVD shortly after. Season six through ten were also released on Blu-ray, leaving half the series behind in the standard definition age. Now that it’s been nearly two decades since the series aired on The WB, Warner Bros. has announced that the series will be hitting Blu-ray shelves.

Titled Smallville: The Complete Series 20th Anniversary Edition, the Blu-ray will be loaded with deleted scenes, audio commentary tracks and special features which include the Smallville cast’s many appearances at Comic-Con, the original pilot of The Adventures of Superboy, and a feature-length documentary on DC’s various struggles but eventual successes titled Secret Origin: The American Story of DC Comics. The special edition Blu-ray will be available for pre-order on September 7th, and will be available for purchase on October 19th. The 42-disc set will cost $179.99 USD. A digital download of the series will also be available with this set. A cheaper DVD version of the series will also be released.
