I’m a Fashion Editor and Stylist—This Is My Ultimate High-Street Find of 2021

Being a fashion editor and stylist, I have always been a bit eclectic in my style, loving a bit of maximalism one minute and minimalism the next. I suppose it’s a bit of a rite of passage from my fashion college days when we all competed to be as fashion-forward as possible. As I am an ageism fighter, it’s so important to me to feel seen, and fashion allows me to express myself and allow my inner chameleon to shine bright. That’s why I love a classic piece that can be worn multiple ways, such as this simple yet versatile satin skirt. I can be really creative one minute and then more subdued the next, and a satin skirt will go with anything and can be dressed up or down, looking equally as good with heels as it does with a chunky knit and trainers. It’s definitely my most-worn item of 2021.

A simple white tee and a black blazer work perfectly with a satin skirt. Worn to work or a lunch date with friends, the satin skirt gives the outfit a touch of glam without going overboard. I’ve teamed it with my Prada loafers to elevate an otherwise classic look.

A simple black vest and a satin skirt give a simple elegance that’s perfect for a date night or evening out with friends. Add statement jewellery to take it up a notch, or keep it understated with a simple bag like this classic Chanel flap bag.

Cashmere and satin, could it be any more luxurious? When it’s cold outside, it’s the cosiest combo. Wear the jumper tucked in with similar-toned boots and a bag for an effortless look.

A cool blue linen shirt is a must in the summer and looks great with a satin skirt. I’ve added plain white sneakers and a bumbag worn crossbody for an easy-to-wear “day at the shops” vibe.

Here’s where my maximalism turns up a notch. What better way to make a statement than with a big, chunky custom-made knit! The satin skirt makes the oversized chunkiness of the knit less overpowering, and I’ve added a dainty yellow bag to add a feminine touch.
