Loki director Kate Herron confirmed that Chris Hemsworth provided his voice for Throg in the latest episode.
The fifth episode of Loki, titled “Journey into Mystery” finds Loki (Tom Hiddleston) on a journey with numerous Loki Variants. The episode is filled to the brim with Easter Eggs for Marvel Comics fans, one in particular involves Throg, a version of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) transformed into a frog.
In the episode, we see that Throg is stuck inside a jar, attempting to escape it and reaching for Mjolnir. This wonderful moment of fan service may seem pretty inconsequential in the long-run, but it turns out that Chris Hemsworth himself recorded his own grunts as Throg. Loki director Kate Herron revealed to For All Nerds on Twitch:
“Throg, obviously, getting him in [was great]. And we recorded Chris Hemsworth for that, by the way. We recorded him for that, that’s new recording. That’s a whole new recording, not recycled, he recorded that!”
Chris Hemsworth will next be seen in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, which hits theaters on May 6, 2022. Here is the synopsis for Loki:
In Marvel Studios’ “Loki,” the mercurial villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston) resumes his role as the God of Mischief in a new series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.”
Directed by Kate Herron, with Michael Waldron serving as head writer, the upcoming series stars Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
