‘Star Wars’: Disney Reportedly Renaming Boba Fett’s Slave 1 Ship

Disney is reportedly dropping Boba Fett’s Slave 1 name based on the packaging of an upcoming Star Wars LEGO set.

Boba Fett’s Slave 1 made its grand return during the second season of The Mandalorian, and it’s safe to assume the ship will also be present in The Book of Boba Fett. Slave 1 is one of the most iconic ships in all of Star Wars that first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back, but given its resurgence, more merchandise is most likely in the pipeline.

A new LEGO set coming out dropped the Slave 1 name and is instead going by “Boba Fett’s starship” on the packaging. Per Jedi News, LEGO Star Wars Lead Designer Malcolm Lee Stockwell revealed:

“We’re not calling it Slave I anymore. This is Boba Fett’s Starship.”

When asked about the reason for the name change, LEGO Star Wars Design Director Jens Kronvold Frederiksen later added that Disney made the request:

“Everybody is. It’s probably not something which has been announced publicly but it is just something that Disney doesn’t want to use any more.”
