The upcoming Denis Villeneuve helmed Dune reboot has been delayed once again.
Warner Bros. had officially delayed a slew of films, including Clint Eastwood’s Cry Macho, the Sopranos prequel The Many Saints of Newark and the upcoming Dune reboot from Denis Villeneuve. Dune will move from October 1, 2021 and takeover Cry Macho’s October 22, 2021 date. Dune will be released in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously despite rumors of the contrary.
Eastwood’s Cry Macho will move to an earlier date, making its debut on September 17, 2021 while The Many Saints of Newark moves to Dune’s previously held October 1, 2021 date.
Dune is set to premiere during the 78th annual Venice Film Festival. The film will be screened on September 3rd, almost two months before its theatrical release. Dune has been one of the most anticipated films in recent memory thanks to its strong, diverse cast and storied legacy as a sci-fi property. The film is expected to adapt the first part of the book, and if Dune is the success that many want it to be, then it’s highly likely a sequel will be made.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve from a script he co-wrote with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts, Dune stars Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem.
