Criminal Minds star Shemar Moore has joined the cast of the upcoming film, Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
Last year, Sonic the Hedgehog surprised moviegoers everywhere. Despite a few early trailers that showed off a truly awful rendition of the titular character, the film would go on to received mixed to positive reviews from critics and become one of the highest-grossing films of the year. A sequel was quickly put into development and it was eventually revealed that franchise characters Knuckles and Tails would join the iconic blue quill speedster. Now the film has added someone entirely different to its roster.
Earlier today Shemar Moore announced that he was joining the cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Shemara Moore is best known for his roles in television series such as the long-running crime drama series, Criminal Minds, and S.W.A.T. He did not reveal who he would be playing in the film.

Here is the official synopsis for the first film:
SONIC THE HEDGEHOG is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster video game franchise from Sega that centres on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination.
Directed by Jeff Fowler from a script written by Patrick Casey, Josh Miller, and Oren Uziel, the film features the voice talent of Ben Schwartz as the titular character and stars James Marsden as sheriff Tom Wachowski, Jim Carrey as Dr. Ivo Robotnik, Neal McDonough as US Army Major Bennington, Tika Sumpter as Mrs. Wachowski, Lee Majdoub as Stone, and Frank C. Turner as Crazy Carl. Adam Pally, Natasha Rothwell, Debs Howard, and Elfina Luk also star.
