‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ Concept Artist Shares Unused Apokolips Character Design

A concept artist for Zack Snyder’s Justice League shared an unused Apokolips character design.

With the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max earlier this year, fans got a further glimpse at what the director’s vision for the DC Extended Universe looked like – particularly as a fulfillment of the narrative established from his previous to films Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The Snyder Cut also gave fans a look at how the director envisioned the alien homeworld of Apokolips, where Darkseid (Ray Porter), some of the New Gods and Parademons reside.

Concept artist Jerad S. Marantz shared an impressive design for an Apokolips character from the Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The design reflects the artistry of the comics and harkens back to Jack Kirby’s creation of Darkseid while implementing the aesthetic established through the vision of the DCEU. Following the Zack Snyder’s Justice League, it appears that the director has moved onto different projects, despite having an established vision for where the stories of Justice League: Part Two and Justice League: Part Three would lead. Whether or not these stories will ever come into fruition remains a mystery, but fans can still take solace in the fact that the Snyder Cut exists to preserve his original vision for the film.

Here is the synopsis for the Snyder Cut:

“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”

The Snyder Cut stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J.K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
