‘Justice League’ Director Zack Snyder Reacts To ‘Ghost Rider’ Reboot Rumors

Justice League director Zack Snyder has denied a rumor that he’ll direct a Ghost Rider reboot for Marvel.

Zack Snyder is one of the most-discussed filmmakers in the comic book movie genre. With films such as 3oo, Watchmen, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and his Director’s Cut of Justice League, he’s certainly made a name for himself as a comic book movie behemoth. Given his penchant for working on grittier superhero stories compared to the more upbeat, humorous tone Marvel Studios is famous for, some have wondered what his take on a Marvel superhero would look like.

Recently, rumors circulated that Zack Snyder was being eyed to direct a reboot of Ghost Rider for Marvel Studios. In an interview with Tyrone Magnus, the director swiftly debunked such rumors that he would be bringing the character to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

“Oh, really? I don’t know that. It’s kind of fun, I gotta be honest. It’s cool, you’re like, ‘Oh yeah, no, Ghost Rider is a done deal!’ No. But no, it’s not.”

Nicolas Cage played Ghost Rider in the 2007 film of the same name followed by a sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, in 2012. The Robbie Reyes iteration of the character was introduced in the MCU in the television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., portrayed by actor Gabriel Luna.

Here is the synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Justice League:

“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”

The Snyder Cut stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, JK Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
