Avengers Campus Opening Sees Anthony Mackie Presenting Captain America

Anthony Mackie took the stage at the Avengers Campus opening to introduce the park’s Captain America.

Avengers Campus is set to open at Disney California Adventure on Friday. The theme park’s land is a mecca for Marvel fans, as it features rides, foods and characters that are part of the storied film franchise. The project was fully unveiled on Wednesday night at the opening ceremony, giving fans and journalists alike a deep, intimate look at all the offerings that the park has to offer. To help promote the park and to create brand synergy, Captain America star Anthony Mackie and Ant-Man star Paul Rudd were brought on stage to give their seal of approval.

The main event that closed off the ceremony was Anthony Mackie was brought on stage alongside the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s architect Kevin Feige. Feige handed the reigns off to Mackie, who took the time to introduce the park’s Captain America for the first time. It was an emotional moment for Mackie and fans at home. It also solidified once again that Mackie will be Captain America going forward.

Anthony Mackie made his debut as Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Here is the synopsis for the hit Marvel Studios series:

Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience—in Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.”

Directed by Kari Skogland from scripts written by showrunner Malcolm Spellman and Derek Kolstad, the series stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent.
