‘Doctor Strange’ Sequel Will Be Dark, Says Marvel Script Supervisor

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness script supervisor Jo Beckett has called the upcoming Marvel film dark.

Officially announced during 2019’s San Diego Comic-Con, the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness film had its share of production problems that most movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe tend to avoid. The first film’s director, Scott Derrickson left the film following creative differences with Marvel Studios and replaced by Spider-Man director Sam Raimi. Details on what the film will be about beyond rumors and speculation, however, are difficult to come by.

Elizabeth Olson has called the film bonkers and Mads Mikkelson may be returning as Kaecilius for the sequel. Beyond this, all we know for sure is that the film is said to feature horror elements but it has been unclear how far the upcoming film will take this. If the film’s script supervisor is to be believed the entire film could very well be a dark one.

Earlier this year, production for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness wrapped up. To celebrate, script supervisor Jo Beckett posted a photo with director Sam Raimi in celebration. Interestingly, in one of his responses to the comments on the post, Beckett said the film was going to be dark. You can see his full Instagram post below:

Details on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are currently limited, though it is said to feature horror elements. Furthermore, the Disney Plus mini-series WandaVision will also serve as the lead-in to the sequel. Scott Derrickson is still attached to the film as an executive producer, with Sam Raimi set to direct from a script written by Michael Waldron. The sequel will star Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, and Xochitl Gomez.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released on March 25th, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
