‘Justice League’: Zack Snyder Says DC Films ‘Said Goodbye’ To Him

Justice League director Zack Snyder spoke about his currently relationship with DC Films, and fans may be disappointed.

The Snyder Cut of Justice League finally dropped on HBO Max in March, with many fans ecstatic over seeing Zack Snyder’s full creative vision finally realized. Fans were particularly intrigued to see the epilogue to the film, in which we get a sense at what the director had planned for the titular superhero team in potential sequels. However, despite the teases shown in that epilogue, if Zack Snyder’s words are to be believed, the prospect of him returning to DC Films is unlikely.

While promoting his new Netflix film Army of the Dead with Eqsuire,Zack Snyder was asked about whether he voluntarily parted aways with DC Films after working on the Snyder Cut. Here is what he had to say:

“Well I mean, they said goodbye to me. And I don’t want to… I love those characters. I love that universe. But you just have to read that Ann Sarnoff article the day after the movie came out, where they pretty much said, “You got what you wanted everyone. Now quit asking.” So yeah, like I said, not my call. I love those characters. I invested a great deal of my life in those characters. I would never say never to doing another DC movie, but we’re talking about the reality.”

The director had a particular story in mind for two Justice League sequels, and upon the premiere of the Snyder Cut, fans started a new social media hashtag in #RestoreTheSnyderVerse. As of right now, the future of the franchise is looking to move on from Zack Snyder’s vision.

Here is the synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Justice League:

“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”

The Snyder Cut stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, JK Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
