‘Rangers Of The New Republic’ Reportedly No Longer In Active Development

Lucasfilm is reportedly no longer actively developing The Mandalorian spin-off series about the Rangers of the New Republic that was announced back in December.

Many Star Wars projects are in the works for Disney Plus, including a shared universe spawning from The Mandalorian. The Book of Boba Fett will be the first and is set to hit the streamer this Christmas. Another series will follow Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano in live-action. The third series part of the Mando-Verse was titled Rangers of the New Republic.

When Rangers of the New Republic was announced, not much was known about the Star Wars series beyond Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni’s involvement. Many speculated Gina Carano’s Cara Dune was going to lead the series, but the actress has since been removed from The Mandalorian. There have been reports that Carano was going to get her own series as well, and it sounds more and more like that was going to be Rangers of the New Republic since Variety shared that the series is “not currently in active development” over at Lucasfilm.

Are you bummed to hear that Rangers of the New Republic is on pause? If Cara Dune was going to be the original lead of the series, who would you replace her with? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below!

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito, Temuera Morrison, Katee Sackhoff, Ming-Na Wen, Bill Burr, Timothy Olyphant, and Carl Weathers, with Rosario Dawson joining the series as Ahsoka Tano ahead of her spin-off series. The series was created by Jon Favreau and executive produced by Dave Filoni, with season two episodes also directed by Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, Peyton Reed, Carl Weathers, and Robert Rodriguez.

The Mandalorian is available to stream Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the rest of The Mandalorian spin-offs, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
